Students have been added to Google Classroom for this class, so we will not be using this website anymore. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Wednesday -- Mrs. Raiford was out, so this was a participation day with articles about biochemistry, questions on the articles, and a word search of biochem vocabulary. So long as you were on task for the class, you earned credit. Thursday AND Friday -- Two days in class to work on the Biomolecules Foldable project. This project is worth 10 points, which doesn't seem like much until you remember that everyday tasks in class are only 2 points apiece.
We signed up for our Google Classroom. Due to lab scheduling, we will not be using Classroom every day. The rest of class was used for:
1. Finishing the Amoeba sister worksheets that were given out yesterday. The videos were available during class for individual viewing. 2. Animated Biology modules on biochemistry 3. Virtual Lab on calorimetry The goal, besides finishing yesterday's work, was to give Classroom a test run and see how the Animated Biology and Virtual Lab sites from the textbook publisher would work. The only item that had to be finished were yesterday's work. After going over the answers to the book questions from Friday, we completed notes on Chapter 2 (biomolecules and enzymes). Included in the notes were two video clips from the Amoeba Sisters. There is a worksheet for each video clip. More time will be given in class tomorrow to complete these.
We reviewed the properties of water together using the POGIL worksheet on the topic. Afterwards, there were 9 questions to be answered while reading the next section, on biomolecules: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
It was another lab day today! After finishing their notes on the Properties of Water, students investigated surface tension in a quick lab. Most finished during class, but it is technically due tomorrow.
Not much was done during our super short class today. Quizzes were returned. Make-up and retakes can be done if Mrs. Raiford has advanced notice of when they are needed. Make-up and retakes can only be after school in the middle school, room 221 (2nd floor, far corner of the courtyard).
The notes for Chapter 2 were just started. We will continue with these for the next couple of weeks. Today, students took their Chapter 1 quiz. They also read the start of Chapter 2, on biochemistry.
As announced, the Chapter 1 quiz will be on TUESDAY.
We went over the Experimental Variables work. For a start to review, students highlighted key terms in their notes from the past two weeks. These key terms will be important to know when taking the quiz. Finally, students practiced their knowledge of scientific experiments on sample experiments done by the Bikini Bottom Gang. Students completed their paper towel lab today. Early finishers had extra time to continue working on the Experimental Variables work from yesterday.
